Day 1: Welcome to Lima
Arrival at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima. Welcome to the “City of the Kings”, ancient nickname of Lima.
A guide and a taxi from Solidaire Inca Tour will meet us and bring us to the Miraflores Park Hotel for the first night.

Day 2: Gastronomic Tour and Introduction to birdwatching
After our breakfast, we will visit one of the markets of the city to discover the variety of Peruvian products, such as the 4 000 natural sorts of potatoes and the large variety of exotic fruits. Then, we will go to a prestigious restaurant to taste the best of Peruvian cuisine.
In the afternoon, a specialized guide will give us a lecture to introduce us with the birds of Peru and prepare us for our excursions.
After our dinner, we will return to the hotel to spend our second night.

Day 3: Bird watching tour in Lima
After a relaxing breakfast in front of the Ocean, we will leave for the outskirts of Lima. Our first birdwatching tour will make us discover the great diversity of birds in Peru.
We will have a nice dinner and return to our hotel for the night.

Day 4: Lima - Puerto Maldonado
Early in the morning, we will head towards the rainforest, and more precisely Puerto Maldonado, the city known as the Peruvian capital of biodiversity.
After some welcome refreshment in our hotel Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, we will have the opprotunity to discover the reserve and its surroundings. A pleasant walk will enable us to meet colourful exotic birds for the first time.
In the late afternoon, we will return to our hotel, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 5: Walking through the rainforest
Our morning will be dedicated to the Canopy excursion, on a 29-meter-high bridge through the treetops. We will be able to observe various birds of the jungle such as Toucans and Woodpeckers. We will also learn to identify them through their songs.
After having a relaxing lunch, we will follow the wetlands walkway and discover the Aguajales rainforest swamps. The fauna and flora will keep amazing us all day long.
Then, we will return to the private ‘cabanas’ of our lodge to relax and spend the night.

Day 6: Birdwatching around the Sandoval Lake
After being waken by a tropical bird symphony and enjoying our breakfast in this incredible environment, we will leave for a full-day excursion to the Sandoval Lake.
A boat ride will take us to the Tambopata National Reserve, which is home to the Point-tailed Palmcreeper, the Ringed Kingfisher and many other species of tropical birds. We will enjoy a two-hour canoe glide on the fantastic oxbow lake while learning more about the Sandoval Lake fauna.
In the late afternoon, we will return to our lodge for the last night in the Amazon Basin.

Day 7: Puerto Maldonado - Cusco
After enjoying our last Amazonian breakfast in the lodge, we will fly to Puerto Maldonado and take a boat to Cuzco, ‘the Imperial City’.
Arriving in the afternoon, we will be awaited in our hotel La Casona, a colonial manor house meticulously restored. A savory dinner will be offered to us before retiring for the night.

Day 8: Birdwatching around the Huacarpay Lake
After our breakfast, we will head to the Huacarpay Lake to discover the incredible number of bird species which live there.
Walking around the lake, we will enjoy the natural show of shorebirds such as Whimbrels, Godwit and Plovers. On the hillside above the lake, we might even meet a spectacular Hummingbird, the Bearded Mountainner. This day will be an amazing opportuny for birds watchers.
Finally, we will drive back to Cuzco and return to our hotel for the night.

Day 9: Sacred Valley of the Incas
In the morning, we will take the road through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the indigenous town of Pisac, where we will visit the temple and typical streets.
After our lunch, we will visit the archeological complex of Ollantaytambo. From the Temple Hill, we will appreciate a unique view on the Sacred Valley.
Then, we will take a train to Aguas Calientes, the nearest town to Machu Picchu. We will be transfered to our somptuous hotel, the Machu Picchu Pubelo Hotel. We will be able to feel the sacred energy of the moutain before retiring for the night in our private cottages crafted by local artisans.

Day 10: Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, we will take a bus that will carry us on a winding road to the Inca fortress of Machu Picchu, so that we might admire a sunrise on one of the wonders of the Ancient World. This amazing lost ‘city of the Incas’ will offer us all its treasures of stone works and ornaments as well as its breathtaking wild landscapes. A professional guide will present us the secrets of the citadel and tell us about the Circular Tozer, the Intihuantana and the Three windows Temple.
Then, we will go down to Aguas Calientes to have our lunch in one of the best restaurants of all Peru, El Indio Feliz.
In the afternoon, we will have several options. Relaxing in the UNU Spa of our hotel with the Andean massage or the Inca therapy is a first possibility. We can also go for a walk through the orchid garden, which counts more than 350 species, and the wonderful tea plantation.
After our dinner in the hotel, we will retire to our cottages for the night.

Day 11: Birdwatching in Mandor
In the morning, we will leave for the Mandor Gardens, a sanctuary for many species of tropical birds. With our guide, we will be able to identify different Quetzals and Woodpeckers.
In the afternoon, we will discover the natural treasures of the 12-acres hotel property and its 18 identified species of Hummingbirds as well as Mitred Parakeets and Highland Motmots.
Then, we will return to our hotel to enjoy a fantastic dinner and spend a last night in our cottages.

Day 12: Maras – Moray
In the morning, we will take a train to Ollantaytambo and head to the town of Maras to visit the Inca salt mines. We will learn the ancient techniques of exploitation while appreciating this incredible view.
Then, we will go to Moray to observe the famous circular terraces.
Finally, we will drive back to Cuzco and return to the hotel La Casona, where we will enjoy a savory dinner and retire for the night.

Day 13: Cusco city tour
In the morning, we will start our visit of the city with the ‘Coricancha’, also called Temple of the Sun. We will continue walking around the ‘Plaza de Armas’, Cuzco central square and the Cathedral. Then, we will appreciate the nearby ruins going to the Sacsayhuman Fortress.
After a typical ‘cusqueno’ lunch, we will head to Cuzco International Airport to take our flight back to Lima. Our driver will take us to our hotel, the Miraflores Park Hotel, where we will have dinner and retire for the night.

Day 14: Birdwatching tour in Lima
In the morning, we will go to enjoy our last birdwatching excursion in the surroundings of Lima.
At lunch time, we will drive back to Lima to have a farewell meal while enjoying a ‘paso horse’ and ‘marinero’ show.
Finally, it is with great emotion that we will head towards the International Airport of Lima.
