Sustainable Development Projects

Solidaire Inca Tour is a tourism agency which creation was motivated by two main elements:

the will to take part in the improvement of the local population’s economic situation while supporting them in the preservation of their one thousand year old culture, passed down by the Peruvian pre-Colombian civilizations. Hence the idea of promoting a responsible, fair and sustainable tourist activity.

We considered different proposals. All of them aimed at improve everyday life of disadvantaged people who are excluded from the redistribution process of the money coming from the tourist sector in Peru.

Restrained by a limited budget, we first were able to get involved in only one project. After much thought, we decided to link up with the Chiclayo Project which aims at the rehabilitation of homeless children.

In the region of Chiclayo (north Peru), the economic situation is quite depressed and as a consequence very few children have access to school. Thousands of children are homeless, living out of the society with no better option than doing very precarious jobs.

The children residence Aldea Virgen de la Paz was created in order to help them.

This shelter, which caters for 57 children, organizes different kind of activities (music, sport and languages among others) in order to support children’s education and increase the opportunity for them to get socially and professionally integrated.

What do we do in Chiclayo?

Aldea’s financial resources are very limited so that its people cannot carry out all their activities. Knowing this, we decided to participate getting involved in the education program.

We supply the Aldea with school and extracurricular materials. We also work in cooperation with the French Alliance for the children being able to take the exam of French Foreign Language so that they might have better future prospects.
